Upon its formation, PCO focused primarily on PC-based video technologies and quickly became one of North America's largest manufacturers of custom servers for the security industry. PCO released its first digital video recording (DVR) product in 2000. The system was one of North America's first DVR's capable of recording up to 120 images per second. The product was huge a success for PCO and inspired the creation of a new model capable of recording up to 240 images per second. The 240ips platform was officially released in the fall of 2001 and remained PCO’s number one video product for many years. In early 2004 PCO yet again surprised the industry when it released a next generation 480ips platform based upon a combination of MPEG4 & proprietary compression. Today PCO's PC-based offering incorporates the latest advancements in video technology including H.264 compression and hybrid support for multi megapixel cameras.
Since 2004 PCO’s has also focused on creating a world class line of embedded video recorders. By leveraging technology from multiple strategic supply chain partners PCO has been able to maintain its leadership position in this rapidly evolving and price sensitive market segment. PCO focuses on embedded product differentiation through the ongoing creation and development of its advanced centralized video management software.
Since 2006 PCO has expanded its focus to include the development of a next generation enterprise class IP video management system. With the platforms anticipated introduction in 2010 PCO will complete a 6 year strategic initiative to offer an end to end video recording and management solution. From entry level embedded recorders to enterprise class video management PCO's lineup includes a truly world class product in every key segment of the market.
As a result of this concentrated effort PCO has successfully remained atop one of the most rapidly advancing industries in the world. Today PCO ships products to six continents and its key products include over 10 language variations.
